Charaideo Maidam which is renowned as pyramids of Sivasagar in Assam is amongst the most historical sites where emperors of Ahom Dynasty shared their heyday during the time of their control. Throughout the time of 1229 CE Charaideo was a royal seat of Ahom and maidams of it was built by Chaolung Sukhapa. It is very important to note that Ahom were active in shifting their capital states but still an essence of Charaideo remains eternal within the pages of history because it was the first capital of the Ahom Dynasty.

The tombs of the Charaideo reveal the divine soul of Ahom kings and queens, the burials around the walks of the Charaideo relates the testimonials of their ancestral gods. We must understand that before an arrival of Ahom the Charaideo was ruled by the Borahi rulers and during that phase it was renowned as Brihagadripahar. An advent of Ahom developed the site and topographical presence of it allowed the founding father of Ahom to established their first capital here. Archaeological survey of India reveals the fact that altogether there are 150 tombs but the lack of conservation method provides protection to only 30 burials within Charaideo.

During the time of Ahom dynasty all the tombs were preserved with an utmost generosity but ongoing scenario and situation may not prove to be that productive and protective to save the tombs. The historic manifesto of it is lying helpless but its historic essence has not loss any relevance because a tomb around Charaideo allows historians and travelers to understand an inspiring legacy of Ahom dynasty. As per historical records Charaideo was not just a burial ground of Kings and queens but beneath the tombs they used to bury their valuables which in turn provoked unsocial character to rob the historic site.
