Sri Kabbalamma Temple is a famous Hindu Goddess temple found in the Kabbalu Village. Its main deity is Sri Kabbalamma and believed to be a powerful goddess in the Hindu religious beliefs and customs. This temple is located in a remote village and was lesser known temple in that region. It came to light in the recent times only. But this temple was the favorite worship place for the entire villagers. It is beautifully located on the down hills of Kabala Durga in Kabbalu Village, Kanakapura Town, Ramanagara District of Karnataka State in India.

Sri Kabbalamma Temple Religious Significance

Sri Kabbalamma is mainly worshiped to get rid of bad eyes of other peoples, who are jealous over a person's development and so. Praying this goddess and provide offering to this temple will clear all those bad eye's effect on its devotees is what believed here. But seeing its daily visitors, it seems these beliefs are really working. Many do practice a temple custom followed here that is a devotee is allowed to sleep on the temple floors and the temple Bull walk over by without harming the devotee laid on the floor. It is a voluntary call by its devotees and not a must when any offerings are given to this temple. There are poojas performed as per temple customs and poojaries also conducts special poojas on devotee's request.

Festival at Sri Kabbalamma Temple

Kabbalamma Jatre is the main festival conducted here annually; this is grandly celebrated here with lot of traditional cultural activities. Its main beauty is when the temples deity is carried out in the temple chariot and goes around this village and comes back to this temple premises. Many devotees try their chance to pull this chariot. The nearby villagers also visit this temple on all auspicious occasions of the Hindu festivals.

Sri Kabbalamma Temple Mythology & History

This is the only Hindu worship place found here. Nearly 28 villagers surrounding it have to come here to get blessed by this goddess. There is no mythology behind this temple is told about, but this temple is only known to the nearby villages only. It came to fame in the recent times only.

Sri Kabbalamma Temple Architectural Significance

This temple is built in the Dravidian temple pattern. This temple is a stone marvel built on granite stones. It has got a beautiful welcome arch nearing the temple road. In front of this temple a high mandap is built with an obelisk tower on its top. This is very colorfully painted on its miniature works and looks very beautiful to eyes. On the entrance one can find a Gopura (minaret) with five stories. It is found in the obelisk shape having many miniature works all around this gopura. Similar 2 gopuras are also seen on the main sanctum sanctorum areas. The main gateway to this temple is occupied by a large pillared mandapa (Porch) it has got beautiful stone art on these pillars. The entire temple surrounding is fenced with walls. There is a vast space in front of this temple to conduct festivals. This temple ground is having the pole for temple flag hoisting. Inside the main complex is totally a stone structure with roofs covered on large stone slabs. Its stone roofs are holdup by monolith pillars. The main deity of this temple is a beautiful stone sculpture. This main deity has a separate covered mandapa. There is a Nandhi (Bull) statue is seated position is built here and is well known as the Basaveshwara. This temple also got a beautiful cute Ratha (Chariot) it is made of wood and found with lot of wood art in it. This can be found outside this temple premises in a separate car shed.
