Jagannath temple is located in the district of Alwar, in the state of Rajasthan, in Northwestern India. It is nearly 150 km north of Jaipur and nearly 160km south of Delhi. It is a Hindu temple that is largely dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The main deities of this temple are Garbhagriha and Jagannathji who are presiding deities related to the anthropomorphic form of Lord Jagannath of Puri. On the other hand, the two other main deities are Sitaramji and Jankiji. It is one of the most sought after and most frequented Hindu temple in Alwar. A good number of domestic and foreign visitors and tourists along with adherent devotees and pilgrims visit this particular temple with great faith and devotion throughout the year.

Jagannath Temple Religious Significance

Jagannath temple is situated in the old part of the city of Alwar. It is actually much famous for its Rath Yatra festival that is devotionally conducted annually where Lord Jagannath is carried in a successful manner in a chariot called Indra Vimana. It is to be remembered that the said chariot which is an elephant carriage has been regularly used by erstwhile King of Alwar. It was later donated to the shrine and regularly used for Rath Yatra. This particular chariot festival perfectly follows a diffirent rituals and traditions than those of Puri in the state of Orissa. In Alwar, the Rath Yatra is part and parcel of annual wedding celebration that takes place in a devotional manner between Lord Jagannath and Goddess Jankiji in a grand manner.
