Shri Hanuman Mandir is a Hindu temple, situated in Sarangpur village of Ahmedabad district in Gujarat. It is one of the most holy and sacred temples in Swaminarayan Sampraday, a Hindu faction created by guru Swaminarayan. The temple comes under Vadtal Gadi, one of the two cathedrae which formed Swaminarayan Sampraday. Shri Hanuman Mandir is dedicated to lord Hanuman in the form of Kastbhanjan which signify removal of unhappiness. It is the only Swaminarayan temple which possesses lord Hanuman as a key divinity. In other temples of Swaminarayan, the key divinity is in human form with the memorial of lord Hanuman as well as lord Ganesh at the gateway of the temple.

Shri Hanuman Mandir Religious Significance

In accordance with historical records, the idol of lord Hanuman in Shri Hanuman Mandir was installed by Swami Sadguru Gopalanand. With the records of a writer named Raymond Williams, Swami Gopalanand while installing the idol, touched it with a rod that enthused life into it and made it move. This event become a popular story and turned into a driving force behind the beginning for healing ritual for devotees which is conducted in the temple. Every day many devotees come to Shri Hanuman Mandir in order to give prayer to lord Hanuman. As a part of worship, regular religious activities such as chanting Hanuman chalisa, conducting aarti, chanting Hanuman stotram and Hanuman mantra is occurred in the temple. In Shri Hanuman Mandir, Tuesday and Saturday is the selected days for conducting special religious event for those people who are influenced by psychologicalsickness, constant worries and other mental disorders. The idol of Shri Hanuman Mandir is believed to be so strong that a simple look at it by the individuals who are influenced by bad spirits can drive the evil spirits out from the body and mind.

Shri Hanuman Mandir Mythology & History

According to Hindu mythology, lord Hanuman is well-known for Hindu people all over the world for ejecting evil spirits and ghosts from individuals who are inundated with such issues. This was owing to the blessing of Gopalanand Swami to VaghaKhachar, a devotee who appealed lord Hanuman with his talk, to exist in the idol for eradicating such evils. The sympathetic Swami Gopalanand assisted VaghaKhachar with blessing as he willingly served the saints and other devotees by providing them hospitality. As a consequence, his earnings had decreased. Thus, Swami Gopalanand decided to support VaghaKhachar by installing the idol of lord Hanuman which gave a strong source of earning to him. The idol of lord Hanuman expedited him to continue to provide services to saints and devotees. In later days, Vagha Khachar devoted his earning eternally for the development of Shri Hanuman Mandir at Sarangpur. The service continues till today as countless devotees arrive at Sarangpur and bow their head at the feet of lord Hanuman's idol in order to get rid with the problems regarding bad spirit or ghosts.

Shri Hanuman Mandir Architectural Significance

Shri Hanuman Mandir is quite big and airy. In the temple, the idol of lord Hanuman is truly imposing. The temple was refurbished recently by developing many rooms, new structures and installing new facilities for the visitors. There is a dining room in Shri Hanuman Mandir where food is distributed to every visitors. Every day almost 5000 visitors take food from the temple. There is a Dharmshala situated close to the entrance of Shri Hanuman Mandir where visitors can stay overnight if they desire.
