Devi Talab Mandir is located on Pathankot Road, in the heart of Jalandhar in the state of Punjab, in North western India. It is just 1 km away from the Jalandhar Railway station. It is a famous Hindu temple. According to the local legends, it is strongly believed to be more than 200 years old. This particular temple is largely dedicated to Goddess Durga. On the other hand, it is one of the 51 Shakthi pithas spread across in India. It is to be highly noted that the religious image of Lord Shiva which is enshrined in this temple is known as Bhisan Bhairav. According to the puranas, Maa Sati immediately immolated herself after her father named Daksha directly insulted her husband Lord Shiva. This situation and circumstance really enraged Lord Shiva who immediately opened his terrifying third eye plus wholeheartedly danced a fierce tandava just across the earth with the body in his arms of his beloved Sati. Most of the Gods and Goddess were really afraid that the Lord Shiva's anger would directly destroy the universe so they sought the help of Lord Vishnu who immediately dispatched his Sudarshan Chakra which is an all-powerful discus in order to cut Sati's body into different types of small pieces. Each and every spot that actually received a small or tiny portion of Maa Sati's body soon became in the ages that perfectly followed a place of dedicated and committed worship for devotees of the said Goddess.
