Dev Dham Jodhpuriya is located in the municipality of Newai, in the district of Tonk, in the state of Rajasthan, in Northwestern India. It situated near to Mashi dam. It lies on the Jaipur-Kota national highway (NH-12) near to Manoharpura. It is approximately 75 km or 47 mi from Jaipur. This particular shrine is largely dedicated to Lord Devnarayan who is worshipped as the perfect incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to the local tradition, Devnarayan was incarnated in Vikram Samvat in 968. He was born as son of a warrior family, his father's name was Sawai Bhoj Bagaravat and mother's name was Saadu Maata Gurjari.

Dev Dham Jodhpuriya Religious Significance

Local people of Rajasthan wholeheartedly worship Lord Devnarayan with great faith and devotion. According to the local legends, this Lord is a wish fulfilling Lord for his adherent devotees and pilgrims. It is strongly claimed that one who prays to this Lord with at most dedication and commitment gets his or her wishes fulfilled within a stipulated time frame in their personal and professional life. People visit again this temple after getting their wishes fulfilled in a satisfactory manner for Thanks giving offerings to this particular Lord in a religious manner. The shrine is visited by unmarried person, married couples, old-age persons, sick and ailing persons and common men with wishes and desires in their heart. Special pojas, homams, yagnas and rituals are conducted at this shrine in a religious manner. People participate in night vigil on every Fridays and daily during the summer season.

Dev Dham Jodhpuriya Architectural Significance

Dev Dham Jodhpuriya is based on the Rajasthani architectural styles and patterns. It doesn't have any shades of North Indian architectural features in it. This shrine is decaorated with various statues of different size and shapes. The noted statues are of his cousins named Mehandu, Bhuna and Devnarayan along with their half-sister named Taradey Panwar. The other very important statues that commemorated at this holy spot belong to Devnarayan drinking milk of Lioness, Devnarayan's birthplace, Devnarayan as child sitting in lap of Saadu Maata Gurjari and Sawai Bhoj. The sub-temples are arranged in a systematic manner within the temple complex with a lot of perfection. Each and every statue is special landmarks within and outside the temple premises. During the night vigil, adherent devotees and pilgrims indulge in the singing of bhajans and kirthanas. On Fridays and daily during the summer season, night vigil program at this temple is marked with religious affairs, functions and activities conducted with total dedication and commitment. Special pujas are also marked with grand manner at this particular shrine.

Festivals at Dev Dham Jodhpuriya

Dev Dham Jodhpuriya conducts special major Aarati for Devnarayan nearly three times in a day at 4am, 11am and 7pm in a religious manner. A good rush is witnessed on Fridays when adherent devotees and pilgrims in large number drop in along with their family members, relatives and close friends. The following meaningful quote can be witnessed on every image of Devnarayan:"Samvat 968 ke aansh, janam liya Gurjar ke vansh Sadhu sati ke vachno dwara,kamal phool Dev liya avatar." On the other hand, this quote can be literally translated as saying that he was incarnated in the Gurjar dynasty in Vikram Samvat 968 (911 A.D.) to fulfill the promise he gave to Saadu Maata Gurjari. At this temple, two fairs are organized each year in memory of Devnarayan. During these festive seasons, bhopas of Devnarayan make figures related his brave deeds and to his birth on a Thali while dancing.
