As per the local legends, a local man named "Kamala", having largely failed to immediately undertake hazardous pilgrimage to far off place named Jwala ji, directly underwent a lifelong penance in order to personally honour Durga for her wholehearted darshan. The Goddess was really pleased with him so granted a vision twice a year to him. This is the reason why two melas are conducted each year with lot of interest at this temple. Local people along with pilgrims and devotees join in singing different types of hymns in wholehearted praise of this deity.
