Vintage Car Museum is among the popular museums in Goa which is devoted to reinstate and to reserve the riding and motorcycling charms of Goa's history. It ranges variety of vehicles, ranging from Mercedes Benz to Chevrolet and Volkswagen among others. Situated in Nuvem town of South Goa, Vintage Car Museum is regarded as Goa's first car gallery and outlet.

Vintage Car Museum Architecture

Vintage Car Museum was established for the purpose of promotion, refurbishment and maintenance of traditional vehicles and historical cars. The museum is situated in relatively small floor area where people can find different car models from 19th and 20th century. In the showroom of the museum, there are cars namely Peugeot, Chevrolet Fleet master, Datson Fairlady, Vandal Tempo and Morris among others. Some of the vehicles which are demonstrated in Vintage Car Museum are also in exceptional operating condition and are rented for the purpose of wedding, film shooting or fun riding. Vintage Car Museum also has a large hall in the first floor which is used for the purpose of organising get-togethers or celebrations.

Vintage Car Museum History

Vintage Car Museum was created in the year 2004 by a businessmen named Pradeep V. Naik. The intention for creating such museum was to generate consciousness among the young generation regarding traditional vehicles. The vehicles demonstrated in the museum has certain historical importance. For example, one of the well-known vehicles in Vintage Car Museum is Chevrolet Fleet which was a popular car during 1930s. It was renewed as 'mafia staff vehicle' in the United States. Other well-known vehicle in the museum is Mercedes Benz 170 which was used during 1939s. This vehicle also been observed in a film named 'Sea Wolves' which was released in the year 1924. Another important vehicle with historical significance is Vidal Tempo which was a car from the period of 1936. This vehicle was obtained from the king of Sawantwadi and one of the most interesting aspects of the car is that it was the military vehicle of Nazi army of Germany during Second World War. Furthermore, this vehicle was also renewed for the only vehicle in the world having two engines and world's first vehicle with four cylinder machines.

According to historical records, Pradeep Naik was a motorbike trader who involved in the area of vintage car collection when his uncle gave him an ancient Mercedes several years ago. Afterwards, in the year 1985, Naik purchased a Peugeot 301 for rupees 3000 only. Since then, his collection for vintage vehicle increased gradually. Majority of vehicles in Vintage Car Museum were obtained from the neighbouring towns viz. Miraj and Kolhapur among others. Naik had also started renovation of vintage vehicle from other car holders. For example, in the year 1928, a traditional Ford vehicle which possessed by Rauraje Deshprabhu and a gorgeous Austin which possessed by Jaywant Chowgule was refurbished by Naik. Eventually, Naik also started to reinvest fund in order to maintain new as well as remaining vehicles. Vintage Car Museum is also regarded as an innovator of arranging vintage vehicle rallies in Goa.
