Riverside Palace is a beautiful erstwhile Gondal prince palace. It is a heritage hotel now and operated by the royal decedents of this princely class. This is a colonial era built European model in good condition. It is located at Asha Pura Road, Gondal District of Gujarat State in India.

Riverside Palace Architecture

Riverside Palace is an excellent European architectural model. It is a single storied building with wooden ceilings on its 1st floor and with stone slabs on its terrace. It ceilings are little bit higher place, making it a difference. It has 7 living rooms with its royal uniqueness. This also has an attached rest room. There are 11 rooms meant for European luxuries. These rooms have European furniture's and electrical fittings of classical types. These rooms are also having beautiful private balconies. Its halls are really spacious. It contains the cookeries, cane furniture's with beading works, glass and brass wears. This also has the skins of leopards fitted in a miniature model. It has got the European and the Indian style of furniture's in its halls, these are very classical placed, such that it dint looks differentiated at one glance. It has got a very good sofa sets and king size beds. It has got a very good garden on its front. These are occupied with very old trees. Its terrace has vast space left out. From here the view f the Gondial River looks very beautiful. This palace became the last palace of the royal class to be built in the European style in Gujarat.

Riverside Palace History

Riverside Palace was a present to Crown Prince of Gondal named Bhojraji. This was magnificent palace was built by Bhagwat Sinhji, who was the maharaja of Princely states in Gujarat in the 19the century AD. This palace was built her form 1875 to 1880 AD. This was the only princely class to get a degree in medicines and served their peoples. They were a loyal to British rules, since they were declining in their powers. He went to London for his studies and also for the thorn accession of King George V. he was a very good administrator and ruled Gondal in harmony with its peoples. Under him many colleges were built here. Up to the time of Independence these princely class lived here. After the dissolve of Princely states they converted it into royal palace hotel here. This is owned and run by the royal descendants of this princely families. This is the major tourist attraction for heritage palace tour to say and dine. It has attracted many foreign tourists in the past 5 decades. It is in the heart of the city in an eco friendly environment. This is also a most common palace for film shootings.
