The Rauza Sharif is a Dargah that is located in Sirhind-Bassi Pathana road in district of Fatehgarh Sahib in the Indian state of Punjab. The Dargah is well recognised by the Shaikh Ahmad Faruqi Sirhindi also known as Mujaddid, Alf-Isfani on whose name it is established. It is located quite near to Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib.

Rauza Sharif Sirhind Architecture

The structure was built primary under the guidance of Aurangzeb. The structure has an extensive influence of the Muslim architecture. Notably, main hall of the structure i.e. Rauza Sharif was planned and designed by Maharaja Yadavendra Singh. The Dargah was constructed in quite a large area which is can also be understood from the spacious interior of the building. The exterior of the wall of the structure is tinted with white colour which further depicts an appreciative visual experience. The interior of the Dargah has different designs and the walls were curved with some with some of the famous religious lines penned by Mujaddid. The building was constructed with the use of materials including stones and marbles. There is also a Gurudwara within the Dargah where the sons of Sikh were died. Within the Gurudwara there exist two structure named Sahid Ganj and Burj Mata Gujri. One of the significant parts of the Gerudwara is the Thanda Burj as it is place which remains cool during the hot summer as well. Another gurudwara was constructed in the rear end of the Dargah in tribute to Mata Gurji who was the mother of the Sikhs sons died within the Dargah.

Rauza Sharif Sirhind History

The monument has a history of more than 300 years. It was primarily built during the 18th century during the period of period of notable leaders like Akbar and Jahangir. It is meeting place of Islam pilgrims from all over the world including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia. The monument is deemed to be quite significant owing to its religious importance all over the world specifically in the Islamic nations. The monument is also globally known for the annual Urs celebration which is being organised for more than 300 years now. The festival marks the death anniversary of Mujadid and is organised to pay tribute to this great Muslim philosopher and leader. The festival is organized in the month of august every year. The historical significance of the Dargah can also be comprehended from the fact that Muslims considers it as a sacred place second to Mecca. Another event named Jor Mela is organised in this sacred every year in the month of December. In this festival, various incidents associated with Rauza Sharif are depicted. It is believed that the structure was built as an honour for the courageous youths who sacrificed themselves for the religion of Islam.

Notably, the Rauza Sharif which has a magnificent Dargah and Gurudwara is one of the widely visited places in Punjab by the tourists. Again, the festivals that are organised in the place every years witness thousands of visitors especially from the Islamic countries like Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Overall, it can be said that the place is major attractions for the tourism owing to its historical importance, architectural beauty and religious importance among others.
