Korigad Fort is well built over the Shyadri Hill Ranges. It is about 930 meters above from this main land ground. These are traditional built fort in the Indian architectural style. It has the impact of medieval era by its designs. There is no much large fortification found here. There can be seen only few existing wall bordering the cliff areas of this citadel mount. The most beauty part is the curved bastion. It is formed in circular walls, which is built on the side of this hilltop.



Lohagad Fort is a great and splendid structure standing on the Hill top of Shyadri Ranges. Its altitude is 1050 meters. This fort is a complete stone mason works. There are lime stones visible in the bonding works in between the stones. The first structure was a simple fortification with very few structures in it.



Malhargad Fort is a unique defensive fortress which is constructed on the Bhuleshwar Range as a look out place for Dive Ghats areas of Pune District. This fortress is also known as the Temple Fort for the Marathas. This fort is dedicated to the great God of the Hindus known as the lord Shiva. This fort is built on a triangular shaped plateau on this hilltop. It main ramparts occupies the boundary cliff of this hills. The main fort is built in a square pattern.



Purandar Fort is built over stages of time by many occupants of this region. This doesn't have any significant architectural model, but well built as a defensive fort in the Indian traditional manner. It located at a 1387 meter altitude, making it a highly defensive fort. It does occupy a unique place in the northern Western Ghats. The first base for this fort was laid by the Sultans of the Bhamani kingdom in the 13th century AD.



Rajgad Fort is built over a hill top plateau, having an altitude of 1318 meters height, in the Shyadri ranges. These are having a narrow stretch expanding in three sides with its central parts having larger areas. The central area is where the main fort complexes are built. This part is called the Balle Killa. Here one can find the main court yard and palaces. The main door of this fort is found here. Rajmachi Fort was built by the Satavahana dynasty, who established their Kingdom soon after the decline of the Mauryan Empire. They were the follower of Hinduism and ruled the Indian province peacefully from 230 BC. This kingdom lasted for five centuries thereafter. This fortress stood as a defensive fort to have a look out on the Bor Ghats. Since this is a significant route towards the west to reach Mumbai. This valley is mostly mentioned in the Indian history as an ancient route for traders.



Shrivardhan Fort is built in the Hoysala architectural form found in the 11th century AD. It is built in the highest point of the Rajmachi hills on its east end. It is built at an altitude of 900 meters from the base of its foot hills. This fort was built as a watch tower to look out on these hills and plains of this region. It has got a very strong wall built around its bordering cliff of this hill. These walls are still not damaged by humans or it weathered of naturally with time.



Sinhagad Fort is greatly located atop on the Bhuleswar Hill range at an altitude of 1312 meters. It is found in the ancient fort models of India. It is built on the plateaus of this hill peak. There is a full length of main ramparts surrounded on this plain land surface bordering its ridges. It has got a very good defensive natural trench, since it has very steep slopes on major sides of this hill.



Torna Fort has an altitude of 1403 meters from its foot hills. This fort is totally built with granite stone blocks. Its citadel has few plain lands and has a narrow stretch of fortification built on this top hill. From the base hill to its main fort, there are 7 Gates built here. It has a separate escape door too. The main entrance is a huge stone gate named the as the Kothi Dharvasa. The foot hill entrance gate is named as Bini Dharvasa. This fort is found in the traditional fort form found in the ancient times.



Tung Fort is found in the medieval fort models. These are built in a defensive manner than found in the ancient times. This fort is completely built with the granite stones, which are locally mined from the same hills. This fort is built at an altitude of 1057 meters above the sea level. Its hill top has a natural cone shape peak, making this hill to locate from any place in Lonvala. On the top there is an oval shape plateau, were its fortification is built.



Visapur Fort is a medieval fort architectural marvel. It is built in two phases in the Lohagad and Visapur hill stretches. This fortification was built here for the residential use and as a watch tower to look out in these valleys. This fort is built at a height of 1066 meters and 1219 meters above the mean sea level in Lonvala. These forts occupy the major plain plateaus found on these hill tops. This is completely a stone structure, built of granite stones. Its fortifications are very strong and thick, even now it is in good conditions.
