Though most part of the building has been deteriorated over the years, there are some remains which depicts its rich history and archeological importance. Only two part of the palace complex is still being preserved by the local authority. There are two temple within the palace area which includes Valiyakoikkal Temple and Kaipuzha Temple that are still being used to worship by the people in the surrounding area. The palace was constructed in the year 903 AD by the Pandya kings of Madurai.



Nedumpuram Palace is totally built in the ancient Kerala architectural style. This palace is built over a plain palm groove lands. It followed the principles of Kettu, which was a used in building dynamics. This palace was also built in the Pathinaru Kettu, which was again divided in to Nalu Kettu. Here kettu means Blocks. The four blocks accompanied the central court yard which was kept open and spacious. From here the passage for other blocks is extended, which are the residential rooms.
