Hill Fort Kesroli Architecture

Hill Fort of Kesroli was built in an outpost area in the tribal village area of Kesroli. The place chosen was a on a citadel of metamorphic rock mount. This citadel is about 250 meters above the sea level. This is a purely the Rajput architectural marvel. It is well known for its great walls fitted with gun towers. It is the major attraction of this fort. This fortress is in the form of a large square structure. It walls are raised up to 65 feet, which is a very thick and strong. This fortress area is a unique biodiversity area. From the top of the fort palace, the beautiful Alwar can be viewed; there is a forest area too. This fort is built with mostly the granite stones for the basement and platforms areas. The up raised structures are found with sand stones mostly. Inside the fort there are vast halls and rooms. It has got a swimming pool inside the fort and outside the fort. The swimming pool in the outer is built by the resort peoples now. This fortress is filled with large pillars to support the palace building. There are large windows, presently framed with woods and glass to look attractive for tourist purpose who wishes to stay here. Its terrace is a unique place. It can accommodate nearly 100 peoples for bird watching and site seeing from its top. It has got one of the finest granite floors; these are well polished and keep cool always in the inner areas. Thus its architectural important is of great importance making it truly a master piece and more of all, the location where it is, makes it even more important not from architectural point but from artistic point of view as well.

Hill Fort Kesroli History

Hill Fort Kesroli is built by the Yadhu Vanshi's; they are believed to be the decedents of Vedic era from the Hindu God named Lord Krishna. These peoples were later in to the Rajput areas and were converted in to Islam religion in the mid half of the 14th century AD. Later they were called as Khanzadas of this region. This fort was the gate way towards the west, .i.e. to the Rajasthan areas from the Northern Province like the Delhi. This fortress was mostly with onset by rulers of the northern and western parts of India. The Mughals fought in the 18th century AD on took over this fort. This fort was also attacked by the minor Jat rulers of those times. Finally the Rajput clans took over this fort and brought new prosperity to its area and named it the Alwar City. The credit goes to the Rajput King named Ranawat Thakur Bhawani Singh in the year 1775 AD. During his reign, a lot of importances were given to art and culture. He was the ruler who brought back this fort to Rajputana province in the 18th century AD. Currently this fortress is converted as luxury fort hotel and resort by the state tourism department to a private hotel group. Now it's maintained well with modern facilities in and out of this fortress area.
