The city of Bharuch can be said to be the oldest in Gujarat with a history of around 2000 years or so. However, the existence of the haveli is only 250 years old. It was built in and around the year 1791. Lallubhai who was the ex-divan of Bharuch is credited for building the monument years ago. It is interesting to note that Lallubhai was the divan of the last nawab of Bharuch and after this monument no such structure were built in the dynasty.
