Jaipur also known as 'Pink City' as this city is always dipped into the colour of festival, joy and in the glory of fests. This city is well known for glorious celebration of its culture and tradition. The word is 'Festival' has always been reason for everyone to cherish and enjoy. Every festival has its own importance like coming of new season, cultivation of new crop, worshiping The Lord according to the rituals or giving blessing the spouse each has its own significance and importance in every religion. In Jaipur the festival has played the vital factor in influencing the tourism of Rajasthan. The pale yellow sand rejoices this festival lively in the vibrant colour of festival. The Kite Festival of Jaipur is one of the most renowned festivals among all other, which is held on the 14th of February on the day of 'Makar Sankranti' or 'Uttarayan' to mark the change of the Dhanu Rashi(Sagittarius) to Makara Rashi (Capricorn), it denoted to be the auspicious occasion. 'Uttar' means north and 'Ayan' means journey, which depicts the starting of the journey of sun towards north.

According to the rituals people on this day takes the Holy dips in the Galtaji, an important divine in Jaipur. The pray God to offer them with good health, wealth and good crop. The pink city turns more colourful and vibrant. Kite festival has always been popular in every aged of people, in this everyone trying hard to fly their colourful, vivid and dazzling kites in the sky. The sky that day is covered with hundreds and hundreds of kites dissimilar in colours, shapes and sizes. The crowd shouts 'Wo Kata' and hundreds of kites are cut down by each other in the competition to fly up their kite to reach the sun. The people from all over the world participate in this completion. Every year a message is delivered to the common people in the form of Kites, which depicts a social message to the world. The main kite completion is held in the local stadium where all the skilled competitors fight hard to retain in the game as well fly highest as hundreds of kites are cut down by each other in the competition. The glory of the day is maintained not only in the day time but also at night when the light is added to kites in the form of flowing lanterns (Tukuls) which lights the sky.

After all this excitement you can take a royal walk in the street of Maharajas and Royals, the beautiful historical Havellis where wall depicts the whole story. The fort of the city Amber fort and Jaigarh are must to be visited once you reach here.

The main food on this day is eaten according to the rituals are various sugary delights made of sesame seeds i.e. Til Ke Laddu, Gajak, and Feeni the most popular of all sweets in Jaipur made of fibres.
