Shri Ramakrishna Ashrama is located in Dr Yagnik Rd, in the district Rajkot, in the state of Gujarat, in Western India. It is one of the significant branches of Ramakrishna Math that is situated in Belur Math, in the state of West Bengal, in Eastern India. Temple Service at Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama

In 1979, Universal Shri Ramakrishna Temple built was built in a successful manner within the ashram campus. At this temple regular Arti, puja, prayer meeting, yagnas, homams, occasional special pujas, etc are conducted in a festive manner. This particular temple gives an opportunity to people of all walks of life to wholeheartedly take part in celebrations of the great men and women of different faith, prayer, religious discourses, meditation, prayers and bhajan. The Vidyarthi Mandir at Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama

At the Vidyarthi mandir, school boys are accommodating on the system of Gurukul. The students are admitted without any type of distinction of creed and color. They all live as brothers wearing neat and clean uniform. They belong to the nearby villages and sub-towns. They are taken care for their development and growth in the field of spirituality, moral, intellectual and physical. They are also given training for being disciplined and for self help to a great extent.

Free Library and Reading Room at Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama

This ashram has a library and reading room that is well furnished. It really benefits the local public. This library and reading room is full equipped with good stock of books, journals, magazines and newspaper. The sitting arrangement is comfortable in a specious hall. Thing are done in a systematic manner.

Swami Vivekananda in Gujarat

Swami Vivekananda during their Bharat Darshan visited the Western part of India along with most of his brother disciples. In Saurashtra, Swami spent a lot of time. He wandered over the State of Gujarat between 1890 and 1892, covering places such as Ahmedabad, Limbdi, Wadhwan Bhavnagar, Girnar, Sihor, junagadh, Veraval, Bhuj. Porbandar, Mandvi, Dwarka, Naravan Sarovar, Baroda and Palitana. He was hosted by Dewan Manibhai of Baroda, Lal Shankar Umia Shankar of Ahmedabad, Dewan of Porbandar Shri Shankar Pandurang, and Raj Diwan junagadh Shri Haridas Viharidas Desai. During this particular period, he stayed for two months for studing and teaching the Patanjali Bhasya, Vedas and Panini. He at the advice of his learned host Shri Shankar Pandurang learnt French.

The Beginning of Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama

Swami Madhavanandaji Maharaj who was the 9th president of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission visited Rajot in 1926. The people of Rajkot requested him to open a center at this place for their benefit. In this way the new chapter of this ashram began in Rajkot. In this matter, the generosity and contribution of Maharaja Shri Lakhadhirji of Morvi was so thankful because his rest house housed the ashram. Later land was donated by Rajkot Thakore Saheb Shri Dharmendrasinhji for the purpose of building the ashram building with permanent structures. The ashram has long list of indebted, they are Shri Narandas Gandhi, Shah of Bombay Smt. Mithibal L. Chandarana Bhagat Shri Girdharram Hariram of Virpur, Shri Shambhulal A, Shri Mangaldas A. Patel of Jamnagar, Sir Mathurdas Visanji, the illustrious Bombay industrialist Sheth Shri Mafatlal Gagalbhai, DhroI Thakore Saheb Shri Chandrasihji, Maharaja Shri Bhojrajji of Gondal, Shri Harishankar pandya, Maharaja Shri Lakhdhirji of Morvi, Dewan Shri Chunilal Shroff and Maharaj Shri Lakhajiraj.

His brother disciples has also sanctified Swami Akhandanandaji, Swami vijnananandaji, Swami Akhandanandaji, Swami Subodanandaji, Swami Trigiunatitanandaji, Swami Advaitanandaji, Swami Abhedanandaji, Swami Saradanandaji and Swami Brahmanandaji.

Shri Ramakrishna Ashrama conducts regular classes related to yoga and meditation at its ashram premises. The regular Yogasana classes is aimed to bring to the participants the ancient wisdom as perfectly taught by the sages and saints of India. The meditation classes are conducted in the meditation hall within the ashram premises. There are separate instructors for these classes at this ashram. They give better insight regarding how to perfectly indulge in the art of meditation with a lot of perfection.
