Atma Darshan Yogashram is located in Kumaraswamy Layout, in the district of Bengaluru, in the state of Karnataka, in South India. This particular ashram was established in a successful manner by Swami Satyananda in the year 1979. The Swami's vision was to successfully establish a good community in the given society that can be termed as a spiritual community where people could come wholeheartedly together, to live and hard work that is blended with dedication and commitment in a spirit of understanding each other, nature and it's surrounding and human in general. He largely envisaged the name with the term called Atma Darshan for this particular ashram in order to rightly signify the Atma that is the Supreme Reality that actually manifests in different phases and the successful revelation of that particular Atma. This ashram is part and parcel of the Bihar School of Yoga that is a perfect conglomerate of different organizations in these regions.

Atma Darshan Yogashram - an Overview

The Atma Darshan Yogashram practices the Bihar Yoga, otherwise termed as Satyananda Yoga. This particular name was directly derived from the Bihar school of Yoga that was successfully established by Paramahamsa Satyananda. This particular system largely incorporates the popular concepts of Karma yoga, Jnana yoga, Bhakti yoga, and Raja yoga. This ashram is situated within green environs and serene, within the city limits. It is to be highly noted that other than the main ashram, there are Yoga classes conducted in different parts of this city by this ashram.

The Atma Darshan Yogashram also provides packages to corporate yoga classes that last from 1 to 5 days. It is to be remembered that life at this main ashram begin at early morning 5am and ends by 10pm. In this ashram, students, participants and guests are usually encouraged to comfortably stay for a period of just 14 days in order to unwind plus rejuvenate their body and soul with a lot of perfection.

Schedule at Atma Darshan Yogashram

The Atma Darshan Yogashram conducts chanting sessions that is attended by all the inmates and staffs in the early morning plus in the evening. On each day of the week, the evening chanting is totally different. It is to be highly noted that the inmates are actually encouraged to actively take part in Seva activities as a voluntary services such as cleaning the campus, weeding, gardening, etc. Within the campus, there is also yoga sessions that includes pranayamas, asanas, deep yogic relaxation, plus various meditation techniques taught as per the curriculum of the course. In addition, guests and visitors can also avail of the Basic or Practice sessions in English language or Kannada language conducted in the mid morning, in the evenings or early mornings. On Sundays between 7 to 8.30 am, this ashram conducts free yoga for young children. On the other hand, from Monday to Friday between 4 to 5 pm, there is also free yoga classes conducted for Senior Citizens. Other than these activities and classes, the ashram conducts other events on particular days and special chanting. In October, 2013 in the Atma Darshan Yogashram, The World Yoga Convention was held in a successful manner.

Facilities at Atma Darshan Yogashram

Accommodation - There are separate rooms are readily available for male and female plus for families. They can stay at this ashram for short term plus long term courses. It is to be remembered that only vegetarian meals are wholeheartedly served in the dining hall. On the other hand, special dietary needs and requirements are on demand accommodated with prior intimation and approval of the management authorities.

Maha Mrutyunjaya Havan - A special prayer service popularly known as Maha Mrutyunjaya Havan is successfully conducted on Saturday evenings. This prayer meeting is attended by all staffs and inmates.

Retreat halls - This hall accommodating up to 50 people. This hall is much ideal for yoga sessions and weekend retreats.

Library - There is a huge library that largely holds many books, audio-visual material and publications on the Bihar Yoga and other popular Yoga traditions. The reading room is much spacious. It is well-maintained by the ashram authorities. In this library books can't be hired for the room studies. All types of book referring should be done only in the reading session of this library.

Bookshop - There is bookshop within the ashram premises that stock up on books, Gurus of the tradition, audio-visual materials of Yoga Publication trust, yoga implements such as malas, yoga danda, etc. In addition, the bookshop also stocks up on the following magazinesYoga Magazine, Aradhana, Avahan, Atmabha and Yoga Vidya Magazine.

How to Reach the Atma Darshan Yogashram

The Atma Darshan Yogashram is situated just near Dayananda Sagar College, in Kumaraswamy Layout, in the district of Bengaluru, in the state of Karnataka, in south India. All the guest who wish to reach here can take the government bus from Kempe Gowda Bus depot to towards Banshankari Depot. It is to be noted that this ashram is just 2 km away from the Banshankari Bus depot. At this spot, an individual can take another bus that goes towards Dayananda Sagar College Road; board an autorickshaw or even walk. The charge for autorickshaw ride would cost just around Rs. 25.
